The challenge? Write a story in 6 sentences, no more & no less, and if you’d like, share your creation or just visit and comment on others’ ideas, with GirlieOnTheEdge, Denise. The prompt is “Distance”, and here’s where you join the party: Six Sentence Stories
Amber didn’t know why she was so shocked that it had happened once again, under almost identical circumstances, with the same person; everyone else seemed to get it but her friend, Mae.
She was beginning to think that this vow to go the distance might well be the wrong decision, because how many times do you explain to a friend that what they were doing was so hurtful, and so destructive to the friendship?
Either they care, or they don’t; perhaps they simply can’t…or your own expectations are, in fact, hurtful to them. That last thought hit her like a bomb drop: her rigid expectation that Mae be “better”, to be different than who she truly was, caused its own critical damage.
Amber rocked back in her chair, flushed with shame, and started the painful journey of detaching from her desire to get what she needed from Mae.
It was the most loving thing she could do.
