The Lady turned her cool copper-green eyes to Ferah, and her brother, Montay, awkwardly struggling to stand upright without his sister’s aid; both were a little burnt and steaming from their deadly challenge with Jimann. “I’ll take a raincheck on the Tater Tot Hotdish, as good at it sounds, but these clementines…” she crooned as she picked one out of the bag that Fernlodth had dropped in his haste, “…are perfect for a late-night snack!”

“I’m ready to face my judgement and punishment,” said Montay, lifting his head and confessing “W-what I did was wrong—so wrong in so any ways—and I almost brought down the Fae Council, The Peacekeepers…”

She brought the clementine to her nose and inhaled its sharp-sweet fragrance, “What you did, or rather failed to do was stupid—you might choose your dalliances more carefully—but it was hardly enough to bring about the end of everything, and the councils and brotherhoods have more resources than you’d ever suspect.

“Jimann was an Oath Breaker and unrepentantly greedy, not simply stupid,” she looked sharply at the brother and sister and admonished further, “and we don’t usually meddle in the minor affairs of the fae, but his perfidy had to be neutralized.”

“I guess we have a lot of work to do,” mumbled Ferah.

“Or at least, a lot of decisions to settle about your future, so I’ll relay your willingness to make amends,” said the Lady as she turned to ascend the sky, calling over her shoulder. “but start first with a bath in the lake and moonlight to begin your healing…you two stink of iron and crisped flesh.”
