“The easiest thing,” said Ferah, sighing, “would be for the group of us, once everyone has arrived, to transform into our most powerful forms, whatever we individually sense what that right form is for the situation we have before us: an enraged, power-hungry Montay, my older brother who apparently wants to kill me and take over the fae world, starting with the gnomes.
“We then throw him into an iron pen—because iron is about the only thing that can weaken and imprison fae creatures—and turn him over to the Fae Council of Liminal Balance (FCLB) for judgement and punishment.” Ferah paused, her lip trembling at—as history and memory served—the type of punishments the Council had handed out in the past.
“How many forms does Montay have, and who’s going to handle the iron cage since we’re all fae and sensitive to iron?” asked Rockmouse. “Is the pen ready right now, because…”
“Because we need it right now…I know,” answered Ferah, musing further, “Easy may not be the best way to go here, because like me, he’s cat. But he’s also falcon, some say dragon, others mention python, but we’ve drifted apart and I’m really not certain any more.”
Inwardly, Ferah wondered if there wasn‘t some way to win her brother back; his personality change had come on so suddenly, just after she’d jettisoned Jimann and he’d wrapped himself about her brother.

I’m thinking the same as Mimi about Jimann casting a spell of some sort over Montay. Could be coincidence but it was right after Ferah dumped him.

You leave us to wonder if Jimann is using Montay to get back at Ferah. Does he have the capacity to control the behavior of another?

Ooh, very interesting… that iron pen and those who are able to be shape-shifters. I’ll be leaning nearer to see what’s happening next time…

So Montay wants to kill Ferah. I like how you are setting up the conflict between them.
