Rockmouse schooled her reaction to Ferah’s story, carefully plucking a clementine from the green bowl and waiting in the silence that followed to see if more would be said; she and Fernlodth had heard the tale, but what was the proposal?
“So, that’s Montay in the trees, who finally tracked me down to this isolated island,” Ferah added, and after a long pause, continued “I’m not sure why he’s THAT angry with me, since all I’ve done is create some space for myself and give him what he wants, which is total control…for a time, you understand, until we see what unfolds.”
“And what you want with us is…” Rockmouse focused, eyes down, on separating the sections of the clementine and handing half to Fernlodth, who nodded thanks amidst a cavernous yawn.
“Knowing that the gnomes were first on Montay’s list of fae to defeat, I’d appealed to your chapter of the Brotherhood of Gnomes, secretly working with a small handful of your members to come up with a plan to draw my brother away from the Council and hopefully, calm him down in a place where he had no one to try and impress.”
“Does Elinorth know about this?” barked Rockmouse.
“That’s why I’m here,” said Fenlodth, adding “Ferah had to bug out before telling Redrue, Sangfroid, and Plangeduc where she was running to.”

I hope her plan works. Those so bent on revenge, or evil, or mischief, of whatever, are not easy to dissuade.

I wonder what Montay is so angry about and why Ferah left suddenly. It looks like the gnomes have work to do.

Gosh, this is getting deeper and deeper with this series. Very nicely done… is there a clementine around anywhere?

But those gnomes can be quite tricky to defeat!

Yes! Best to be allies, rather than enemies.

Since Montay’s defected to the dark side, it’s best Ferah accept her brother is “gone” (at least for now) and begin her strategy against defeating him and the elites!
