The challenge? Write a story in 6 sentences, no more & no less, and if you’d like, share your creation or just visit and comment on others’ ideas, with GirlieOnTheEdge, Denise. The prompt is “Ocean”, and here’s where you join the party: Six Sentence Stories
She paced the widow’s walk in the early dawn, scanning the horizon for signs of his ship.
The wind tugged her pale hair from under her nightcap, pulling at the edges of her tightly-wound shawl and whispering, “Say the words and I’ll help you.”
He wasn’t a bad man, just growled far too often that he’d rather be in some sunny harbor, on some sunny beach with a bottle of rum and a warm, comely wench, instead of in damp, chilly New England with his bony little wife.
There, on the edge of the red horizon, she spotted the tilt of his sails, and reached deeper to confirm it was him and his scurvy crew.
She raised a hand, mumbled the words, and the wind twirled and whipped higher, and in a snap, sped across the water toward his vessel.
Wish granted, then, he would not be returning to this port but to a sunnier clime; she looked quickly to the neighboring houses, but no one else was up this early.

This is so excellent. Love the spare but harsh words throughout. And how she aligns with the wind to cast her spell across the sea. “the wind twirled and whipped higher, and in a snap, sped across the water toward his vessel.” – a powerful image.

“…she spotted the tilt of his sails”
Don’t tell anyone, but I’m totally jealous of your creating such an all-encompassing phrase.
dude(tte)!
*compliment on a Six that has sixty thousand words hidden, just behind the innocent white spaces between sentences… very cool

Ha! I liked this one. Sometimes what two people want are exactly the same thing, even if one of them doesn’t realize it.

Well perhaps he could use some Vitamin C, but then again it hard to know where that sunnier clime might end up being. It sounds like he growled one too many times.

He should be careful what he wishes for. But perhaps it’s all for the best, eh?
