Should she mention, or just keep it to herself?
The multicolored lights were dimming, Homecoming streamers raggedly trussed above the combination stage/gymnasium as couples clutched and staggered beneath.
Between prepartying and hip flasks, and quick nips outside under the harvest moon for a quick smoke of one thing or another, most of those left on the dance floor were irreparably altered; they’d feel the backlash tomorrow, smile, and boast about what was vaguely recalled.
The more he drank, the closer he held her in the slow dance she’d worked so hard to make happen. But his flannel shirt was rank, likely not washed in a month of Sundays, and more prize-winningly pungent than other boys’; he was such a nice guy and maybe didn’t realize, but should she tip him off?
A little tipsy herself, she decided to see how far and for how long this situationship would go.

I am trying to recall if I ever hooked up with a guy that smelled really bad- and although I pride myself on having tried everything just once- I cannot think of an incidence. Dammit!

Some days, when I’ve had my nap and a cup of coffee after 3 pm, I’m tempted to revisit those days. 😉😂

I can’t recall the last time I saw anyone wearing flannel … (except for my husband who has a red plaid one that he’s owned since March 1979 – I remember because I bought it for him for his birthday) and he still wears it when he’s out trimming apple trees or climbing inside the laurels to clear out old bird nests … while I’m at the other end of the garden reminding him to not touch the bird nests.
This is a fabulous Six. Enjoyed every word, Liz.

Thank you, Misky. Glad you enjoyed. Yah, flannel is often sported by both men & women in the great white north!😄

Thankfully, for me, those days are over. Nice tale about what goes through the minds of young dancers at a homecoming.

Under those circumstances? Naah. Sounds like a roll of the dice either one would remember that particular detail 😁
