For Satan’s Angel

Galleon Pirate Ship in harbor

The challenge? Write a story in 6 sentences, no more & no less, and if you’d like, share your creation or just visit and comment on others’ ideas, with GirlieOnTheEdge, Denise. The prompt is “FORGE”, and here’s where you join the party: Six Sentence Stories

Bonus Challenge: From Jenne Gray and C.E. Ayr’s photo prompt: The Unicorn Challenge (04/28/23). No more than 250 words in length. Otherwise, let your creative flag fly!

The journey through the dark wood had been long, icy and lightless, even where the steep granite hills broke through like knotty spine and muscular back.

Steady as she goes, they crested the mountain top to find the mine’s entrance, a spiraling drop down a pathway only just wide enough for one wheelbarrow, one man at a time.

“I see why the Cap’n sent the two o’ us to fetch the Bloody Elves Anchor,” said the first one, adding, “His peg leg would never stand the journey, neither up nor down.”

“He’s Cap’n of the dreaded ghost ship Satan’s Angel, ya witless, waterlogged wiltin’ willie,” snapped the other.

The first swept a sleeve across his brow to catch the sweat that bubbled there, now that their final destination neared; the elves forged in searing heat to make their manufacture legendary and highly sought after for those who could afford its cost.

The second was aware of this cost, and happy that the anchor was as light as it was charmed to hold powerful fast in any stormy harbor; he would otherwise have a hard time of it carrying it back to the ship alone.

  1. How clever you are to get the SixSentenceStory & Unicorn in the same post. The Devil’s Angel …. a good name for that ship.

I’m still having difficulty with “forge”. Maybe tomorrow in idea will appear.
