Cat paw swipes, claws extended and
The little boys’ lives are nearly ended.

With a mighty heave-ho and a far-reaching throw,
Their nets go flying in a breathtaking show.
The battle ensues over plenteous foods,
As bowls and dishes
Scatter like wishes.

Enough to wake the dead, or at least the Dame.

The sideboard tipped, the crockery bowl slid,
The cord snapped, and the bowl flipped its lid.
Then Jack steps back to watch the cheese roll,
Fall smack(!) off the table,
Approach a mouse hole…
And stop.
