It’s What’s for Dinner…

1930s automat machineThe challenge? Write a story in 6 sentences, no more & no less, and if you’d like, share your creation or just visit and comment on others’ ideas, with GirlieOnTheEdge, Denise. The prompt is “Menu”, and here’s where you join the party: Six Sentence Stories

“So many choices, to be fixed in so many interesting ways,” the first one viewed the live menu, feeling the water come to his mouth as he imagined this one, or that one, deep fried, or rubbed with chilies and served with corn chips, a side of guac, and a scoop of sour cream.

“I’m trying to watch my weight,” The second one knit her brow in irritation, adding “We come by here too often, and we need to find a more fit source of protein, perhaps add some vegetation to the meals.”

“Don’t blame the source, friends; take responsibility for your own choices,” the third said archly, reaching a thin finger toward the automat vending machine.

“You are a total buzzkill, Raphemat!” the first two exclaimed in exasperated unison, warning the third one, “and we aren’t done looking, so don’t you dare press the advance button yet!”

Raphemat held their gaze, hiding its smile, and pressed the button repeatedly.

They all laughed and laughed as the humans spun and tumbled, screaming.

Thanks, now I totally need to find and eat at an automat, which is something that we all have been aware of since youth, but, I suspect, few of us have visited.

  2. Warning, warning, to all of those diners; you are what you eat. Like, this live menu ain’t exactly featuring smart food, is it?
(I might read this story to the lobsters down at the seafood market, I think they’d get a kick out of it.)
