Mavis counted on it: No decision, no responsibility.
Mavis lifted a brow. “Do we let ‘em in the boat?”
Lori shrugged, noticing their near-empty tank. The teen stood thigh-deep in floodwater, clutching her yowling cat.
“Fine! Get in, then!”
Lori smiled, thought, “Good call.”
