Had me a coffee
His name was McBean
Tall, dark and handsome
With a splash of some cream.
No work done this morning
Stayed up all the night
When I finish my second
I’ll be feelin’ alright.

They played the Farmer’s Market every chance they got. The large Metropolitan area and suburbs had literally hundreds of sites. Being in the Midwest, word did not get around as much as you might’ve expected. Of course, rural areas in the greater part of the state had their own markets, but times were tough. The band had to weigh transportation costs with expected earnings. Gigs paid next to nothing, and people weren’t tipping as much as they used to. Continue reading

She hunches over the library table, and rubs planed fingers over an already-slick forehead. Canadian forests are burning in the northwest, and the haze is thick, humidity high from last night’s rains. Her other fingers wander back and forth across a college-ruled composition book, cheap pen jagging with arrhythmia. In search of inspiration, but there is none to be found. Continue reading
The room sits at low-tide. Eddies twirl sluggish through muddy gray waters. Slow eyelids blink, sleepy frogs gathered ‘round in a circle. We hope that gathering and moving pen across paper will stir enough energy in this morning’s free-association writing group to stir those eddies into rivulets of free-flowing inspiration.
