They played the Farmer’s Market every chance they got. The large Metropolitan area and suburbs had literally hundreds of sites. Being in the Midwest, word did not get around as much as you might’ve expected. Of course, rural areas in the greater part of the state had their own markets, but times were tough. The band had to weigh transportation costs with expected earnings. Gigs paid next to nothing, and people weren’t tipping as much as they used to.  Continue reading →

For FlashNano Day 24, we were challenged to write a flash in the form of an advertisement. Many players had fun with this. Here is my answer:

A middle aged man with a bad comb-over of fading blond hair, dressed in khaki dress pants, a short-sleeve shirt and man sandals, rambles down a city street, bending to pick up dollar bills from the sidewalk right in front of him. He stuffs them in his pants pockets, front and back.

In the days of yore, a peaceful village nestled in the arms of a twinkling ocean inlet and rolling flat fields, graced with beautiful and unique birds. For years, the village was content with its few sailing boats, small school, single church, and a millenary that made the finest hats. Each hat was graced with an iridescent tail feather from those birds, who monthly shed just one tail feather, enough to suit the vanity of the townsfolk. Continue reading →
