Today’s prompt for Just Jot It January is a doozy: Antipodean. It necessitated an internet search. Turns out it’s pretty perfect for the Monday we’re having in the U.S. Continue reading

Single Syllable P
I could pick up the pace, pack my portfolio with poor-to-middling products. But I’m feeling peckish, so will instead toast some bread and fill its pocks with creamy butter. Delay the puck of promise, a hockey shot to the gut that reminds me: I swore to write every day this month on these prompted challenges.
Thus reminded, I brew me more Joe, grab the blanket, and here I go…

Worry-free Vacation
The challenge? Write a story in exactly 6 sentences based on Denise’s one word prompt: POOL. Visit, comment, and write & post your own on SIX SENTENCE STORIES. The Café is open. Come as you are!
Eyes closed, she tips her chin upward to catch the sun’s soothing caress; this-get-away-from-cruel-winter vacation had been a long time coming, precious personal leave hours hoarded and approved by her boss long in advance. Continue reading
Christmas Stalkings
This is your third and final notification, Bub!
Tony stared at the tiny screen on his phone, running his fingers through his hair. He grabbed his long bangs for stability, and sighed. He thought he’d gotten rid of the problem, set a boundary, and politely told Sue to eff off. No, he KNEW he’d told her to stop contacting him. Continue reading
Frustration and Persnickety: Expect Shenanigans
In which I combine two prompts that go really well together & try to find a kinder, more understanding perspective…
January 5 – Prompt FRUSTRATION from Barbara
January 7 – Prompt PERNICKETY/PERSNICKETY from Ritu
###
Okay, so I did write a response to the prompts (582 words. Ugh!), and succeeded in finding the humor and the humanity of the situation, so the prompts were great for introspection and humor. Many thanks, Barbara and Ritu!
But face it: we don’t really want to spend time reading a lot of whingeing, especially from me. So it remains in my word processor and not on my blog. Instead, enjoy my silly offering from the (sadly) now defunct Carrot Ranch, in which our task was to create variations and a story on “Once Upon a Time” in EXACTLY 99 words:

Hope I make you smile today!
