One-Liner Wednesday: Be Colorful
Be Colorful
My li’l rebellious self
Chooses colors of the nose
Instead of focusing on the eyes
I offer you instead
Perfumes of butter, brown sugar,
Eggs and flour
Sourdough bananas
Cinnamon Nutmeg and Honey
Chocolate cranberries pecans
Slow baking and sensual
Close your eyes and inhale
Warm from my oven
To your palate

A Calling

Even the pigs don’t like you.
The goats just ignore you…they ate our father’s best shirt last week.
She just couldn’t pay attention. Something else called, and it wasn’t in their village. Continue reading

Embrace the Morning
Every morning’s a wakeup call
My wakeup call to get busy and go
Bust out the coffee, bounce off the walls
Right now I’m having a wakeup call
And I do wake up, but I cannot go
Cat’s trapped me beneath, though my hunger grows
Even so, can’t push him off: the kitty purrs No.

Bells
Many thanks to Jenne Gray and C.E. Ayr for their photo prompt for THE UNICORN CHALLENGE (01/10/2025). No more than 250 words in length.
“I’m not so sure about this.” Maisie, hands in sweatshirt pockets, looked sidewise at Ted. “Why are we doing this again?”
“Because it’s what we’ve always done.” Ted’s hands were calloused from many years of woodworking, and his strong, blunt fingers rasped across his unshaven jaw. He’d gladly traded his family business’ corporate ID for the scent of fresh wood and aromatic finishers. But the family’s silent disapproval of his choice still smarted. Continue reading
Christmas Stalkings
This is your third and final notification, Bub!
Tony stared at the tiny screen on his phone, running his fingers through his hair. He grabbed his long bangs for stability, and sighed. He thought he’d gotten rid of the problem, set a boundary, and politely told Sue to eff off. No, he KNEW he’d told her to stop contacting him. Continue reading
