I don’t know what they put in the new cat food formula the veterinarian gave me, but it sure had an affect on my old Tuxedo cat, Tolstoy. We’ve been together for about 15 years, and he’s gone from fluffy, with wizard locks beside each ear and a sage, but kittenish expression, to a bony-bummed, splay-legged, swinging belly, rheumy-eyed dreamer who seeks the sun’s warm rays in winter, but loves snuggling at night. We have a lot in common, in our respective old ages.

Watcher Doings Extra: Ferah

“Sittin’ on the dock of the bay, watchin’ the tide roll away…”

God knows she’d spent plenty of time staring out at the waves, the gulls bobbing like whitecaps let loose when the winds picked up on gray afternoons. When cold rain dimpled those same white-capped waves on stormy days, she’d stand in the treasures she’d found in the shed, the fisherman’s long jacket flapping around her long legs, a sou’wester tied under her chin, her feet bare and near frozen, but turned northward. The scene was different than what her deep-forested homeland offered up, and sometimes she thought she’d grown up in the wrong place, wrong time.

Ferah had gone down to stand on the dock, searching for peace and sanity in the big lake’s waves.

The three gnomes (Redrue, Sangfroid, and Plangeduc) had arrived later than expected (the next afternoon) because they hadn’t acccounted for the distance from the ferry landing to the cottage, the tourists refused to give them a ride, and the island residents had looked at them askance and retreated behind closed doors.

Meanwhile in Minnesota

So here’s an inspiring story about two moms who accompany neighborhood school kids to make sure they get safely from the bus stop to their homes. They were picked up for detention by ICE (don’t know why) and here’s the story they (with just a hint of our Minnesota accent ) told KARE11’s Jana Shortal (Breaking the News). I expect we’ll hear more; this just reported today.

They were handcuffed in the middle seats of the ICE vehicle, two agents in the front, and one in the space behind the two women. The agent in the back said that he wasn’t feeling so good, the driver continued driving, and the back agent started making choking noises and slumped over. One of the women told the two agents in the front that they needed to pull over because the man was having a seizure (he had a total of three).
