Sunset had yielded to evening, and Esme sat in a comfortable chair by the scrying pool, hands resting gently over Cat who had draped himself over her lap, his purrs interrupted by tiny snores and the occasional alert pose as he spotted something at the edge of the woods that she did not; they had been sitting together like that for hours.
Meanwhile, the scrying pool rested on the moving image of a woman hand-knitting a red, blue, and white cap in woolen yarn with ear flaps as an open wood stove snapped with embers glowing and shimmering in heat.
Esme broke the comfortable silence to ask, “So, the Guild meeting went well, did it?”
The woman, Lydia, lowered her needles and answered, “Better than I could have hoped, actually: we feasted on treats both magical and non-; spells and power were raised and transmitted to the goods we knitted; Minerva, back from trying to convince world leaders that Peace on Earth was best for all, led the group in an enormous weaving for comfort and strength to warm the world; smaller knitting and weavings are currently being distributed by group members to the homeless in this bitter wintery season.”
“No wonder you’re exhausted, sister witch.”
“We all get by with a little help from our friends.”

If only world leaders could be convinced of anything.

Those on the Grassroots level, boots on the ground have more power than we’ve been led to believe, IMHO.

Where in the world did my other comment go! Magic make it disappear?! 😄
The witches understand there is power in numbers and focused intent. I’m certain no one would deliberately stand in their way once they engage.

We can hope; when in doubt, act as if we can, yah?

I loved the image of this story way more than the reality of me having a video call… And watching them knit.
My soul craves that cat and scrying pool!!!

“…gonna try with a little help from…”
really enjoyed this Six, (‘specially liked the semi-colon passage, tapping a rhythm on the Reader’s keys, but what really knocked me out* was the last line)
*pologies to a little ol’ band from Texas

It’s such a shame that scrying has now been replaced by FaceTime, I miss the olden days.
