Jor dropped her head and wished the intervention was over. She really had tried all those things, but none held her attention. Not like the stories she read of life on the sea.

The wooden chair leapt back as Father rose from the kitchen table, and strode over to the door. He turned and spoke once more before slamming the door behind him.
That’s it, Jordana. Show some initiative, or we’ll marry you off to that mountain hermit!
Well THAT clearly wasn’t going to happen. She’d fake illness and leave Sunday during church.
