Better Angels

Andi checked the address on her cell phone, grumbling, “You’re sure this is the place…it looks awfully ‘country club’ to need our skills?” 

“It’s been an unusually warm October, so kilt sightings are being called in from all over,” answered Mollie as she spun the wheel of their transport, landing on the roof of what’d been described as a casual meeting place for fine craft whisky, hale males of the younger sort, and folkloric music.

With a snap of her fingers and a twist of her tam, Andi invoked the invisibility screen over their Better Angels Agency vehicle before they headed down the stairs and into the lower levels of the three story pub; their mission was to prevent Fergus Anderson from making a fool of himself performing with his small guitar and big voice, as unknown to him, he’d drawn the attention of a major record producer.

Dear departed Granny made the request and paid the fees, because she knew that he tended to spread ‘em a wee bit wide when taken by the music, and though her grandson was talented, he was no Gerard Butler.

The boy was spotted, kilt closure spell cast by the two, and Andi and Mollie leaned back with a double dram, enjoying the show, pleased to see the producer approach the young man, hand outstretched with a welcoming smile. Meanwhile, Andi’s cell vibrated as another urgent text came through; there’d be no rest for the wicked, nor the very good, it seemed.

  10. A kilt closure spell, love it!
    There’s a knack men learn for wearing the kilt, much to the annoyance of some of the ladies.
    The others belong to the ‘I’ve-seen-it-all-before’ brigade and don’t give a flying fig (leaf).
    Neat story, Liz, and good to know Grannies are still doing their thing from ‘the other side’.
