Stream of consciousness on the prompt “Nothing lasts forever”
The next week or so is predicted to be true January weather, per Minnesota winter standards. Temp is now, at noon, 7 degrees with predicted windchills in the 20 below range, and lower to the west. And that’s in the Twin Cities, so we had just a couple of inches of snow last night. Greater Minnesota got much more…it’s as if the snow clouds just circled the Twin Cities in an icky-bah hug, but maybe touched just a little in generous comfort.
We may get more tonight. Donna, up in Cook county, said they have lots of snow, and is looking forward to skiing. I could use a little of that, but I’m willing to wait. We need a good base layer of snow anyway, to make the cross-country trails a nice glide.
So, we’re in for the cold, lacking in snow, but I have soup and bread, salad and Sumos. I can wrap myself and the cat in heavy blankets, light a fire in the Jotul stove, and draw from my teetering tower of books to read. I have internet and movies, hot coffee, and cookies in the freezer. It’s all good. I am one of the fortunate ones.
I’m safe, supplied, and satisfied.
So bring on the weather…
Nothing lasts forever!

Nice one, Liz. I’m still glad I’m in NY and not MN, though. 😁
