“Good choice, Jill.” Betsy stretched on her side in agreement, cottontail twitching happily. “You’ve fed the colony with the magic tablecloth. Take it, and whatever the buckets hold, to speed your journey.”

Jill glanced down into the buckets beside her, frowning at their contents; a checkered tablecloth and corkscrew in one, and in the other, a brass thimble shaped like an acorn and large enough to fit over her thumb sitting in the palm of a worn baseball mitt were not what she’d expected. But then, neither was falling through a stained-glass portal in a haunted tower and into a world of rolling green hills, large, red-eyed rabbits, and a distant castle.  Continue reading
