Jill glanced down into the buckets beside her, frowning at their contents; a checkered tablecloth and corkscrew in one, and in the other, a brass thimble shaped like an acorn and large enough to fit over her thumb sitting in the palm of a worn baseball mitt were not what she’d expected. But then, neither was falling through a stained-glass portal in a haunted tower and into a world of rolling green hills, large, red-eyed rabbits, and a distant castle.
Fairy tale laws and her rumbling tummy suggested she spread out the tablecloth, and with a flourish, she rolled it out between the rabbits and themselves.
“Huh, I guess that’s what we most need at this point,” she commented, tipping her head at the spread of fat orange carrots and greens before her, and the two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches laid side-by-side on the tablecloth’s corner.
“Sweet,” said Jack as he slipped his switchblade back into his pocket and grabbed a sandwich.
“Indeed,” remarked Roland, as the colony of rabbits crowded up and on to the cloth, pushing each other to the sides and making a general mess of everything; they’d grown weary of nibbling clover, so this was quite a treat.

I am glad to hear those red-eyed rabbits eat orange carrots. This might not be such a bad place to fall into.
