“Oh my God,” Eloise moaned into the top of her knees, body bent into a sitting fetal position and thoroughly defeated by the twins’ repeated singing of the nearly out-of-control Shari Lewis and Friends song; she leaned into a deeper regret at having sent her brother Andrew off to the haunted mansion with only a broken flashlight and a box of three matches, and screamed, “Will you two just shut up?!”
The song stopped, the willow tree ceased its shaking, and Eloise looked up, dumbstruck at the sudden silence. Chuckie and Ducks were still there underneath the tree with her, holding hands, eyes and mouths opened wide in shock.
Ducks looked at Chuckie and said, “She yelled at us, but she never yells at us.”
“Eloise must hate us as much as Mommy and Daddy do,” whimpered Ducks, as two fat tears, one from each twin’s eye, rolled down their plump, red cheeks.
“We just wanted to cheer you up, Weezie!”

Yep. Things aren’t always as they seem, at first.

Yes, how easy it is to misinterpret others’ actions. Nicely shown. I wonder what Eloise’s outburst will lead to now that the twins have shown what they think and feel…

Hey good to see a new face at ‘the Café’
As someone else mentioned, one of the SSC&B’s distinguishing qualities is something akin to the Uncertainty Principle.
You can experience it’s ambiance and you can interact with those you meet there… however, one shouldn’t count on doing both at the same time.
lol
Fun Six

Such a pre-adolescent crush I had on Miz Lewis! Enough to forgive… no, applaud the really goofy hand puppet.

I see the potential for positive resulting from Eloise’s meltdown in front of the twins. A little catharsis can go a long way.

I presume that’s the same Shari Lewis who had a puppet lamb with the bizarrely inappropriate name of Lambchop. God knows what dinner table traumas that caused. 😉

Yes it goes on and on my friends.
Some people. Started singin’ it, not knowing what it was,
And they’ll continue singin’ it forever just because…”

Nice indirect information of the family relationships: “Eloise must hate us as much as Mommy and Daddy do,”

Thanks, Frank. Maybe those twins aren’t as awful as first presented…
