Early winter means February in my corner of the US, and while we’re looking at a mid-week heat wave of 40 degrees here in the Midwest, I feel for our people in the South and Southeast. They’re dealing with unfamiliar snow and cold, burst pipes with no one available to fix them for weeks; and with little access to water, they can still melt snow in their outdoor grills to meet daily needs, but wow!
But the prompt for this week is kaleidoscope, isn’t it?
So let’s do a mindful meditation together, eyes closed and imaginations open; may we find comfort in our inner worlds.
Mine is to lie in a patch of early October sunlight on slightly damp earth, in jeans and light jacket as leaves kaleidoscope in slight cross-winds from multicolored deciduous that spread themselves over fading lawns, and blanket me in their silky-belled crispness, with a light, timeless tap tap-tap on my body and around my smile-curved cheeks.
Now it’s your turn, friends.

The challenge? Write a story in 6 sentences, no more & no less, and if you’d like, share your creation or just visit and comment on others’ ideas, with GirlieOnTheEdge, Denise. The prompt is “KALEIDOSCOPE”, and here’s where you join the party: Six Sentence Stories
Rules of the hop:
Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.
Return here, link your post Wednesday night through Saturday late…
Spread the word and put in a good one to your fellow writers
PROMPT WORD: KALEIDOSCOPE
As someone in the south, I enjoyed walking around the snow patches in 72* weather. Our city inhabitants have been boiling water, but in Shelby county (where I live) all is good. Thanks for thinking of us. I’m feeling lucky as compared to Texas. Sad situation!

A lovely evocation of autumn, Liz! It was always my favourite season when I lived in the UK. I really feel for the folks in those parts of the US who are unused to the snow and therefore so unprepared.

Yes, those poor people. We northerners know better how to cope with cold and snow and are better prepared.
Thank you for the shot of October and kaleidoscoping leaves, but my mindful meditation has me right where I am, enjoying winter; it will go soon enough, but this is the only season when I can walk on water so…

We are blessed indeed. Don’t know how I’d cope with hurricanes and earthquakes.

A unique and compassionate Six, Liz. Mindful meditation sounds pretty good to me. While I never last long doing it, I love the concept.
Yours sounds lovely. Visual, tactile, beautiful. It would make an awesome guided meditation 🙂
