The task? Write a story in 6 sentences, no more no less, and if you’d like, share your creation or just visit and comment, with GirlieOnTheEdge, Denise. The prompt is ‘’Oasis”, and here’s where you join the party:

The sirocco blew steady over the dunes, wavering in the sun and picking up speed and sand as it spun from the Sahara up toward the Mediterranean. He’d hoped for a break in the parched sameness, the grunting of the old camel, the lassitude under which he and the team struggled.
He shut his eyes and prayed for deliverance.
A door opened somewhere, a cool breath of fresh air; was it an oasis with a promise of relief from the unrelenting old windbag, or was he hallucinating? He cracked open an eyelid and took a desultory swig from his coffee mug.
Nope, the staff meeting was still going on.

I remember staff meetings that seemed like a desert.

Ugh…staff meetings are not good for daydreamers like me. Great six!

Excellent Six 🙂 We have our afternoon staff meetings in the canteen hall now, socially distanced at a table each and everyone in masks. Can’t hear a thing.

(Maybe better that way? Work on your own things, or dream of desert get-aways?

Hah! Truth!
When my daughter was in high school, she got mad because she had to go to school really early for some kind of student council meeting. Later she told us “There was not one thing that couldn’t have been handled with an email!” My husband said “Welcome to the business world!”
Terrific six!

Thank you.
Sounds like your daughter learned a critical life lesson–not easily done in the school setting!

Ha! Few things are worse than staff meetings. Except perhaps staff meetings on Zoom….

There has never been a productive business meeting in the history of industry that could not have been accomplished with an email.
Thank the Lord I am retired!

LOL. For sure staff meetings should not be held first thing in the morning!

Or all morning, every week (shudders at the memory)!
