Prompt from Carrot Ranch is “Author’s Chair.” I chose to dream of where Vision begins.
Stepping from the top of one tree to middle of the other, she slides toward the trunk, tests each step.
Bark snaps and spirals; it’s a long way down. Desire stays true, the guiding song. Ascending, though the needles hurt, she’s careful to avoid new shoots. The snap of sap both glues and sparks; it draws her upward toward her mark.
Tree sways in an onshore breeze. Lake promises sweet and ease.
Sky opens wide, near Red Pine’s peak. She builds her nest, to wait and seek. Eagle soars and tips his wings.
She is learning all new things.

Carrot Ranch Prompt (09/23/2021): In 99 words (no more, no less), write a story about an author’s chair. It can belong to any author. Where is it located and why? Does it have special meaning? Go where the prompt leads!
Eagles or dragons… (one of the books I’m alternating is about Dragons! And well birds and dinos maybe dragons too are related) 😉

Beautiful imagery Liz. Oh what magic it must be to soar on an eagle’s wings. Writing can feel like that too, when the words take hold like the wind.

What a perspective! The eagle’s nest view. May you never lose the curiosity to see from such heights.

In my mind’s eye only. No longer brave/flexible enough to literally climb those heoghts.🙂

Nice idea! I like that image, too. Actually, that was me, back in my teens, climbing 2 trees to get to the tree top and the sky, and look out over Lake Superior. Fearless or stupid, I needed a place away to get new perspective. 😉
